Do any republicans here actually believe they are going to get from under the national debt by cutting?

No not at all; its the cut and run mentality they are attempting to usher in like a plague. Their method; is to hoard as much as possible and then have an exit plan; leaving the rest of us to deal with it. Just like the Republicans left the economic crises in the hands of Obama; and blame him for it now; so will the wealthy and few others do, but from aboard.
